Casualty Simulation Scenario Training

“Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand”

This is a great proverb and one which Fusion Medical has seen to be true over and over again.

It is all very well teaching candidates in a classroom environment and teaching them to pass an assessment at the end of the course, but what then? How do you know whether they will perform when the pressure is really on? When their colleague is having a heart attack in front of them or an innocent passer-by has become involved in an accident outside the building.

Of course, we cannot be there when this really happens but we can make it as realistic as possible. Remember, Fusion Medical is run by Healthcare Professionals who have seen and dealt with these incidents in reality and recreate them from real life experiences, not hospital dramas.

We have had feedback from candidates who have learnt in this way following real, life-threatening situations involving real emotions and real lives and in some cases fatal incidents where there was nothing they could do. All of the feedback involves the words 'it was just like a scenario'. It is because of this that the candidates were able to deal with the situation in a controlled and methodical manner and as a result saved lives.

Work places have fire drills to keep fire wardens 'switched on' and effective but First Aiders seem to have training, do nothing for 3 years and then have a refresher course. Research as well as candidate feedback proves that if anything were to happen midway between this period, the First Aider would not feel confident in dealing with a serious situation. We will arrive on site with moulage, clothes, casualties (where appropriate) and additional special effects to make the scene as real as possible. We will make the scenario realistic for the environment and not overly complicated, unless that is what you want! So from Angina to Zygoma fractures, let us know what you would like us to do and we will do the rest.
