"With so many people in attendance on an extremely hot day and the atmosphere surrounding an open air event like this, it was really comforting knowing that we had a proffessional medical team on hand. They were fully prepared for every eventuality including adequate staff and a full compliment of emergency vehicles which thankfully neither were required on the day."

Event Medical Cover

Fusion Medical Ltd offer different levels of cover depending on the type of event. The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) has produced documents recommending what level of cover event organisers should have; this is what we work from. We can advise you on what level of medical cover is required for your function/event, just call us to discuss your needs on the number at the bottom of this page.

Set out below is a definition of each level of medical cover we provide:

Medic

A person who holds qualifications from a current certificate of First-Aid competency issued by an HSE approved company (Fusion First Aid Training) to a member of the NHS Ambulance Service, who holds a current certificate of proficiency in Ambulance Aid, issued by the IHCD. Each medic has vast experience in pre-hospital emergency medicine and is competent in the use of AED (Automated External Defibrillators).

Qualified Nurse

A nurse whose name is entered in the relevant part of the professional register maintained by the UK Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting. The qualified Nurse has recent experience and knowledge in dealing with emergencies in the pre-hospital or accident and emergency environment (within two years)

State Registered Paramedic

A member of an NHS Ambulance Service who holds a current certificate of proficiency in paramedical skills, issued by the IHCD. They have immediate access to the appropriate level of specialist equipment, including drug therapy. All Paramedics have over three years experience in the pre-hospital environment.

Doctor

A ‘Qualified Medical Practitioner’ registered with the General Medical Council in the UK. The Doctor has experience in dealing with emergencies and is qualified in many other fields such as Advanced Life Support (ALS) Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) and management in major incidents. They have immediate access to the appropriate level of specialist equipment, including drug therapy.

First Aid Post/Medical Centre

A static unit bought to the event and remains there for the duration of the function. Its main function is for the ‘walking wounded’. Here members of the public or event staff can receive medical treatment in a clean and medically equipped area by qualified medical staff.

Response Vehicle

A fully equipped, often 4x4 vehicle capable of transporting a qualified medical crew to a casualty in often inaccessible areas, it also has capabilities of moving a patient on a stretcher. It carries medical equipment enabling the casualty to receive life saving treatment ‘in the field’.

Ambulance

A fully equipped ambulance, operated by a 2-person crew (either Paramedic or Technician) and capable of transporting the most seriously injured casualties to the nearest hospital. This way the event can carry on with the above facilities while the casualty is transported to the local Accident & Emergency department. There is also no ‘burden’ on the, already over-stretched, NHS Ambulance Service. Unless, of course, they are requested by the medical professionals on scene.

Please call to discuss your needs and we will be happy to provide you with a quote.
